Retreating from the UN may be a radical view to some, but it really is not a bad idea for America to consider doing. And, actually, many people support this and this has been discussed in the past. The UN represents globalization . . . global this . . . . global that . . . America needs to be tending to her own needs now. The United Nations is a financial drain on America, while we are in serious financial trouble ourselves (and that is putting it mildly).
Even Bush said this: "We're a sovereign nation and we should do things because we want to do them," Bush said. "As far as things around the world that need help, like people where there's poverty and starvation, the United States is the one that is always there to take care of it anyway, and I'm sure we would, without the U.N. We do it all the time."
The UN is seemingly involved in nearly every dispute in the world now and are even involved in internal affairs of countries in some cases. We need to "spit" ourselves out of the system to save ourselves. Sovereignty could be at stake . . .
